Brian Harrabin

Managing Director

An experienced director who has led the company for over 35 years. Having strong business acumen he has been instrumental in developing the company on a very sound footing. Brian was educated at Lanchester Polytechnic, now Coventry University in Business and Marketing.

He is passionate about buildings of historical importance and has carried out innumerable renovations on historical buildings over the last 20 years. He has been instrumental in liaisons between local authorities, conservation officers and archaeologists to refurbish several locally and grade II listed buildings many of them receiving local and some national awards. Examples include award schemes such as Electric Wharf, Ribbon Factory, and various projects in the Far Gosford Street Conservation Area, all in Coventry, as part of a local area regeneration scheme.

As a joint director with his brother Ian in award-winning developer Complex Development Projects, Brian has considerable experience working on ERDF and Heritage lottery-funded projects from both the client and contractor perspectives.

His knowledge and experience have been invaluable in delivering many challenging projects across a whole range of both public and private sectors. He has engendered a ‘can do’ mentality with his organisation and is particularly effective in finding solutions to some of the more unusual and sometimes unique aspects of individual projects.

Beverley Harrabin

Director

Bev Harrabin has been a Director of the company for over 25 years

Originally from a background in the computer industry, she joined the company with a wealth of experience in customer-facing roles and administration.

She has used those skills to design and implement effective and efficient management systems to deal with all back office functions ranging from Health and Safety, Training plans, HR development, marketing, administration, and implementation of finance software and project costing systems

Now, as Director responsible for the administrative and compliance  functions of the company, she ensures that we remain a customer-focused company that is driven to be agile and responsive to our customers’ needs whilst meeting all compliance and regulatory requirements

Gary Judd

Contracts Manager

Gary joined the Company as an apprentice carpenter and has progressed through dedication, hard work, training and determination into his current role as Contracts Manager.

He has considerable experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects, with particular expertise in projects where he works near the public, such as schools, universities, and hospitals, collaborating with colleagues, suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients.

Gary has excellent interpersonal skills and is an effective communicator and motivator. He can manage and maintain fluid running programmes of work.

Gary’s communication skills are invaluable during Framework contracts, pulling several trades together, liaising, programming and controlling all aspects of the process.

He is a high-energy professional who leads by being ‘hands-on’ and is a strategic problem solver who envisions smart solutions and executes them with urgency as required to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Steve Pittaway

Project Manager

Steve has worked in the construction industry for over 40 years, 15 of those with Harrabin Construction. A carpenter by trade but more recently has progressed to Site Manager. He has specialised in historic restoration work. He has worked on many Grade II listed buildings like Fords Hospital and 121 – 124 Far Gosford Street, Black Swan Terrace in Coventry, and Garth House at Birmingham University. Steve was also the Site Manager for the refurbishment of the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building into the Telegraph Hotel.

Phil Clee

Project Manager

Phil has been with Harrabin Construction since 2008 and completed an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery. He has experience in various projects including refurbishment, new builds and historic restoration works.

His work has included National Trust projects, Grade II listed buildings and refurbishment projects. Phil has progressed to Site Manager, running heritage, refurbishment and new build sites, with NEBOSH health and safety management qualification and SMSTS.

Dean Harrow

Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor

Dean has over 30 years of experience in a contracting environment in quantity surveying and estimating roles and has held senior positions within construction companies in the Midlands region.

He has wide experience negotiating projects on a design and build basis and in value engineering. He led the budgeting control and open book costing on a 4-year retirement village project with costs of £14 million.

In his time in the industry, he has been involved in projects of all values and sectors in new build and refurbishment including Health and Education, Social Housing, Care Homes, Residential, Community projects, Churches and Places of Worship, Hotel and Conference facilities, Commercial, Retail and Industrial.

Dean is self-motivated with a desire to achieve as an individual and contribute to a team, he works closely with the Management Team to ensure that all activities are delivered to an agreed time, cost and service specification.

Dean’s key responsibilities include procurement and tendering of sub-contract packages, tender enquiries, tender analysis, and agreement on final values and contract sums.  All contract administration and warranties and management of sub-contractors.

Dean has held the positions of Chairman of CIOB and President of the National Federation of Builders Coventry and Warwickshire areas.

John Gudgeon

Senior Estimator

John is a very experienced and valued construction professional who drives high standards for both himself and the teams he works with.  Originally from a trade background he founded and ran a successful building company for over 25 years. As Managing Director he also led the commercial team.   

Harrabin Construction have benefited from his considerable experience and amongst various recent projects carried out all commercial duties multiple projects at Coventry University Jaguar and William Morris Buildings. More recently he has delivered the project at The Box at Fargo Village a multi-purpose arts venue to upgrade the acoustics and add first-floor office facilities. Ecclesiastical projects include the Lower Ford Street Church in Coventry which was a £1,100,000 project to redevelop the church with new meeting rooms, halls and offices together with a catering kitchen.

John’s building consultancy skills are regularly requested within the Ecclesiastical community and he has assisted and advised many local churches with their building and refurbishment developments

Cath Haughton

Office Manager

Cath has been with Harrabin Construction for over 19 years and manages all office and administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the office.  

Cath is also responsible for CHAS and ISO accreditation and health and safety, ensuring that all of our team have the correct equipment and procedures to provide a safe workplace at all times.

Cath supports the Directors and management team with appointments, meetings and liaising with contractors, clients and stakeholders.
